Buying Phillies Baseball Tickets

Buying Phillies baseball tickets is as easy as going to www.Phillies.com (www.philadelphia.phillies.mlb.com), the Phillies’ official Major League Baseball home page. There you can purchase single tickets or full or partial season passes. All you need is your computer and a credit card.

Individual game tickets range from $20 to $60 with most under $35. Scoreboard seating, at about $38 pp, include a $10 concession voucher per ticket. Not a bad deal!

The season calendar is conveniently under the Schedule heading and is color coded for home, away, and special promotion days. If tickets are available for any given game, a green “T” will show inside the date for that game. Simply clicking your mouse on that “T” will allow you to purchase tickets.

Options under the “Tickets” heading include upcoming games, packages, groups, team series and other special ticketing options.

Tickets can also be purchased at the box office. It is still advisable to check the “Ticket Availability Guide” at the Phillies website under the Tickets heading.

After returning home from a very succesful ten game road trip which saw the Phillies go 7-3, the team continued its poor play in front of the home fans with a 1-8 homestand.  The nine game homestand ended with a 3 game sweep at the hands of the Baltimore Orioles after a 3 game sweep by the Toronto Bluejays.

The Phillies now own the league’s second worst home record at 13-22. But as Ira Riklis has noted, they have the league’s best road record and will look to improve that as they start a nine game road trip which begins in Tampa Bay and goes to Toronto and then Atlanta.

Brett Myers, the Phillies most consistent pitcher this season and fan favorite of Ira Riklis, left Wednesday’s game against the Florida Marlins in the 6th inning after his hip kept locking up. Myers said after the game that he has had the problem for about a month, but also said his hip has bothered him on occasion over the past couple years.

After consulting with team physican Michael Ciccotti and orthopedist Bryan Kelly, Myers will undergo surgery on his inflamed right hip, and could possibly be sidelined for the rest of the 2009 season. The procedure will be performed by New York-based orthopedist Bryan Kelly, whose examination on Friday confirmed the original diagnosis of team physician Michael Ciccotti.

No date has been set for the surgery, and the Phillies declined to set a specific timetable for Myers’ return. But Ciccotti said that it will be 10 to 12 weeks before the 28-year-old could return to a mound and start throwing.

The torn labrum, with bone irregularity in the surrounding region, is similar that to that of second baseman Chase Utley, on whom Kelly operated in November. But because Myers is a pitcher and his push-off leg is affected, the right-hander may face a longer recovery period.

To replace Myers in the rotation, the Phillies called up left-hander Antonio Bastardo from Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Bastardo will make his Major League debut for the Phillies on Tuesday in San Diego.

Ira Riklis Linked In Stats: Bastardo, 23, is 3-2 with a 1.89 ERA in 11 games (seven starts) with Lehigh Valley and Double-A Reading. In two starts since being promoted to the IronPigs, Bastardo struck out 12 while walking just three and allowing 11 hits in 13 innings.

After a 6 game homestand that saw the Philles goes 4-2, the club heads west to begin a 10 game roadtrip starting Monday night in San Diego, a favorite of Ira Riklis.

The 6 game homestand ended with a 4-2 win over the Washington Nationals sealing a series sweep for the Phillies. Much has been made from the Phillies poor start at home, while they have compiled the best record on the road. After losing 2 of 3 games to the Florida Marlins, the Nationals were a welcome sight for the Phillies as they now 10-2 against them for the season including two series sweeps.

Ira Riklis Record Stat: Jamie Moyer picked up the win on Sunday earning himself career win 250, becoming the 44th pitcher to win achieve the feat. Moyer reached the 250-win plateau while moving into 44th place, one behind Bob Gibson with 251 on the all-time wins list. Among active pitchers, Moyer ranks third, trailing San Francisco’s Randy Johnson (299). Moyer is the oldest pitcher to win his 250th game at 46 years and 194 days.

Ira Riklis‘ New York Yankees entered their three-game series against the Phillies having won nine straight games but the Phillies took two out of three over the weekend.

The victory on Sunday clinched a 8-2 road trip which went through Washington, Cincinnati and New York. The Phillies offense continued its hot play batting .288 and scoring 65 runs on the trip. The pitching staff performed better as well with a 4.63 ERA on the 10 game road trip, an improvement over the 5.36 ERA they carried through the first 32 games of the season.

But not all of the news was good for the Phillies. Closer Brad Lidge blew his second game of the series, and fourth of the season, Sunday after not blowing an entire save last season. Concern has to be creaping into the organization but Lidge continues to say he feels fine.

Ira Riklis Linked In Series Stat: The Phillies and Ira Riklis‘ hometown team, the Yankees, combined for 12 homeruns in the three game set which helped raise the total of homeruns hit in new Yankee Stadium to an all-time record of 87 for the first 23 games in a stadium.

The Phillies head to New York to open the interleague season against Ira Riklis‘ favorite team, the Yankees, in New Yankees stadium. Ira Riklis News of the Week: The big news from the Phillies side is the insertion of J.A Happ into the starting rotation replacing Chan Ho Park. Happ pitched very well during spring training and has continued through the first two months out of the bullpen. Park won the spot with a very strong spring training but was not able to carry it over to the regular season. He might be a better fit for the bullpen in the long run, a place he performed very well from last season for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
